A Celebration of Giving worthy of a record year for grants

We celebrated 30 years of Helping Donors Share Nov. 19 at the Fox Cities Performing Arts Center. The Community Foundation for the Fox Valley Region was created in 1986 with a $5,000 gift from Walter L. Rugland, the cash prize he received as the first Aid Association for Lutherans (now Thrivent Financial) Community Service Award winner. Today, the Foundation is home to more than 1,400 charitable funds and its assets are $297 million with $240 million in cumulative grants awarded.

The crowd of donors and other friends of the Foundation were celebrating a fiscal year 2015-16 that saw a record $19 million in grants awarded — including, for the first time, more than $1 million in scholarships.

After the celebration, many of those present stayed for a performance of the the Fox Valley Symphony Orchestra, with guest performer bassist Edgar Meyer. We’re grateful to our celebration sponsors for for helping to make the evening possible, including providing complimentary tickets to the Symphony concert for our guests: Community First Credit Union, Thrivent Financial, Godfrey & Kahn, Bob and Pat Endries Charitable Fund, Bergstrom, Baker Tilly, Pierce Smith, Seifert Family Fund, Roberts, Ritschke & Tyczkowski, Wells Fargo Advisors.
