Calder Family’s Generosity will Live on

At age 90, Dick Calder still gave of his time and great knowledge of the Fox Valley to help efforts to improve the community.

At his side was his wife, Christine. They married in 1955 and raised four children. In 1994, the couple established the Dick and Chris Calder Fund, an endowment fund within the Community Foundation for the Fox Valley Region to support ThedaCare Hospice Foundation.

Dick was a part of the visionary group that founded the Community Foundation, and he served as one of its early presidents. He also served as board chair of the Mielke Family Foundation, a supporting organization within the Foundation, for more than 15 years.

In 2008, the Calders joined the Himebaugh Legacy Circle as charter members, after arranging an estate gift to the Community Foundation, to support their favorite charitable organization in the Fox Valley.

Christine died Aug. 15, 2020, followed by Dick on Feb. 18, 2023. The couple’s legacy of giving back will live on forever thanks to their endowment fund. The Community Foundation is here to help you carry out your personal charitable goals through a flexible long-term plan that can be updated throughout your lifetime.

Legacy gifts, or gifts through your estate plan, can help you to make a difference in our region for generations to come.

Have you given thought to your own legacy and how you can make a difference to a loved one, your community and your favorite charitable causes? Your Community Foundation is happy to help with your long-term charitable planning to help you make an impact on the people and projects that matter to you long after you are no longer here. The Himebaugh Legacy Circle recognizes those who have made future plans for their favorite charitable causes through a bequest or similar deferred gift to the Foundation.
