What Matters to You?

As November unfolds, a spirit of generosity and giving takes center stage, casting a warm and hopeful glow as the days grow shorter and the holiday season beckons.

This month, we find ourselves at the intersection of compassion and action with
today’s celebration of National Philanthropy Day, National Community Foundation Week and Giving Tuesday on Nov. 29, illuminating the path to making a difference in our communities.

This can be expressed in a variety of ways, including volunteering, collecting items to donate, or making financial gifts. To spark conversation and reflection, we want to know what matters to you. Join our new campaign and fill in the blank: What Matters to You? To participate, visit What Matters to share your answer. Responses will be shared (anonymously) in a variety of ways, including in our digital spaces and print pieces as the engagement grows.

National Community Foundation Week, which runs Nov. 12-18, recognizes the important work of community foundations and their collaborative and innovative approach to working with the nonprofit sector, donors and philanthropists.

We’re proud we are:

  • Community problem solvers, by bringing people together to think about the community’s vision for well-being and ways to help solve problems that lead to greater flourishing for all.
  • Educators, by listening, learning and sharing knowledge to raise awareness of community issues and effective ways to give.
  • Inclusive partners by encouraging giving from all generations and engaging partners from throughout the community to discover difference-making change.
  • Impact-makers, by seeking to foster personally meaningful connections between donors and nonprofit organizations, resulting in a stronger community for all, today and for future generations.

National Philanthropy Day, nationally celebrated Nov. 15, acknowledges the spectrum of services provided by the nonprofit community and recognizes the profound impact philanthropy has on the fabric of society. Each year, the local Association of Fundraising Professionals honors individuals and groups who, through their hard work and dedication, have enhanced philanthropy, their communities and the world. As a proud sponsor of our local Philanthropy Day activities on Nov. 16, we invite you to join us in embracing the true essence of this season — the joy of giving back and the profound impact it can have on our world.

On this National Philanthropy Day, we want to express our gratitude to our fund holders, donors, nonprofit partners, professional advisors, community leaders and volunteers, who have joined us in our mission to make our communities flourish.
