Community Foundation welcomes Choua Schommer

Hello! My name is Choua Schommer, and I recently joined the Community Foundation as the Donor Services and Finance Coordinator. I support the grant cycles by serving as a liaison for the donor services and finance teams and working with people through different processes and project planning.

Eric, Choua and Charli

I am excited to work at the Community Foundation and learn more about philanthropy and continue my nonprofit sector work.

I graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay where I majored in human development and minored in psychology. I enjoy working with people from different backgrounds and love seeing the difference nonprofits make in our communities.

Prior to joining the Community Foundation, I worked at Samaritan where I was the Candid Product Manager. Candid is a product of the wellness screen program where clinicians screen students for possible mental health concerns using an electronic database. I also worked with Big Brothers Big Sisters of Manitowoc County where I was a match support specialist, checking in to see if matches were going well, interviewing potential volunteers and families, and planned match support events for Bigs and Littles to attend.

Away from work, I like spending time with my family and friends. My husband, Eric, and I welcomed our daughter, Charli, on Jan. 2 this year. We enjoy going for walks, traveling and attending community events, such as farmer’s markets in the summer. We hope to create many more memories as we navigate parenthood!

I look forward to new connections, learning more about the community, and being a part of the Community Foundation.
