Waupaca boosts vocational skills training

Valley Packaging Inc. (VPI) is a community rehabilitation center offering a variety of human services and vocational skills training programs to individuals who experience disadvantages or have disabilities.

Valley Packaging offers skills training to individuals with disadvantages or have disabilities.

All of VPI’s programs are designed to support and guide individuals while they reach their own optimum level of independence in the community. With a $7,500 grant from the Waupaca Area Community Foundation, VPI was able to provide vocational skills instruction and work experiences to more than 15 Waupaca County residents with disabilities during 2021.

Through a variety of their community-based employability skills programs, clients received training that provided them with transferrable, marketable skills to increase their opportunity for competitive community employment in a variety of roles. This grant also helped fund training for VPI’s Sturm Foods program at Sturm Foods in Manawa. Clients placed at Sturm Foods work in production and receive active and direct training on their work assignments in the areas of work skills, work readiness, social and personal adjustment, and community integration.

The Waupaca Area Community Foundation is one of five geographic affiliates we partner with in the Fox Valley. Our other partners include Brillion Area Family of Funds, Chilton Area Community Foundation, Shawano Area Community Foundation and Clintonville Area Foundation.
