Being a Big is a great way to mentor

Jaime Kriewaldt

By Jaime Kriewaldt, CEO, Big Brothers Big Sisters of East Central Wisconsin

January is National Mentoring Month, a time to shine a light on the power of mentoring and the mentors who believed in us.

It’s safe to say you’ve been impacted by a mentor at some point in your life. Maybe it was a high school teacher who told you to dream bigger, or a football coach who stood in your corner, a colleague in your profession who helped you realize your calling, or a person in your life who made you see what you couldn’t see in yourself.

Whether we knew it at the time or not, our mentors helped us realize our own potential, build our future, and grow into our best selves. That’s the power of mentoring.

Thanks to the support from the many funds listed below, Big Brothers Big Sisters of East Central Wisconsin can provide life changing mentoring relationships to kids in our community, so they can achieve their full potential and have a bigger future.

This month take the time to thank the person who believed in you. If you are interested in becoming a Big, visit our website at Big Brothers Big Sisters of East Central Wisconsin.
