Hello, I’m Katie Ornstein and I joined the Community Foundation staff in December.

I developed my passion for helping nonprofits while serving with AmeriCorps in Appleton following my graduation from UW-Oshkosh with a degree in Political Science.

I’ve always worked for nonprofits, including organizations working in shelter for the homeless, health care and at a food bank.

Now I’ve found a place where I can help many nonprofits working on a wide range of community needs. My title here at the Community Foundation is Database Specialist – CRM. That means I get to put my database skills to work helping our donors accomplish the goals they have for their charitable giving.

I grew up in Little Chute and live in Appleton now. Outside of work, I am “Mom” to Cooper, 18; Owen, 17; Amelia, 14; and Sully, the golden retriever puppy that is everything to all of us.

My free time is spent going to my kids’ sporting and theatre events and taking Sully on adventures.

Someday I would love to travel, with Spain being on the top of my list.

It’s exciting to work with professionals in philanthropy and surround myself with individuals who are just as passionate about our community as I am.

I can’t imagine not working in a nonprofit.
