Marsha can’t wait for work to begin

Homeowner Marsha Jenks is sharing her journal entries here on our blog as her house, garage and yard are rehabbed during the Greater Fox Cities Area Habitat for Humanity’s first-ever Rock the Block blitz Sept. 14-19 in an Appleton neighborhood. The Community Foundation for the Fox Valley Region helped RTB get started with a $300,000 Community Leadership Initiative grant.

I started my countdown to Rock the Block on the first of the month. I’m looking forward to being involved with this project.

You can’t beat the folks in our Fox Valley for giving a helping hand to those of us who need some help.

The stump-grinding contractor was here last Wednesday and I was pretty impressed at the ease and efficiency with which he made a stump disappear from my back yard.

Last Thursday, there were three men here assessing just what needs to be done and how they will accomplish the challenge of siding my old, weather-beaten garage.

These courageous volunteers that will be working with my property definitely have their work cut out for them. My home is over 100 years old and I’m not far behind. LOL.

Well, that’s about all I have to report thus far.
