Area children and the community are two important things to Les and Dar Stumpf of Kaukauna. Together, they have created a youth arts grant program in support of young people in the Fox Cities area who are interested in music, drama, dance and visual arts.
“We wanted to give young people the chance to use their unique talents to better themselves and continue a sharing and caring philosophy,” said Les.
The Stumpfs established the Les and Dar Stumpf Youth Arts Scholarship with the Community Foundation in 2007. Since then, the fund has awarded $65,978 in grants that have benefitted 180 students.
“We feel that God has given us great blessings and that we are on this earth to share, care and nurture wherever we can,” Dar said. “The Community Foundation has given us the tools to that end.”
The grants provide financial assistance to students in kindergarten through high school to help them with things like lessons for dance, singing, choir and band instruments. They have also been used for music and art camps.
