Saying Goodbye to Longtime Foundation Team Member
After nearly 28 years of dedicated service, Betty Van Den Broek is retiring from the Community Foundation for the Fox Valley Region. She initially joined the Community Engagement team and later became the Front Desk Coordinator, making her the first-person visitors would meet upon entering the Foundation’s doors.
Kind, friendly, welcoming, and caring; those are just a few of the ways staff, donors, and nonprofit partners describe her.
“Betty has a genuine love and care for people and has been the heart of the Community Foundation in many ways,” said Curt Detjen, President and CEO of the Community Foundation for the Fox Valley Region. “Even before her current role at the front desk, visitors to our office would find a way to go see Betty. She will certainly be missed.”
On Thursday, May 22, current and former staff, board members, and donors gathered to celebrate Betty’s many years of service to the Community Foundation. As part of the celebration, several team members brought in Betty’s favorite desserts—treats she often shared with others in the break room. Over the years, that space became known as “Snack Central,” thanks to Betty’s generosity and her constant supply of candy and baked goods.
To recognize her impact, the break room will now be called Betty’s Snack Central, a small but meaningful way to carry her legacy forward.
Thank you, Betty, for your dedicated years of service, your warm presence, and the care you’ve shown to everyone who has walked through the Community Foundation’s doors. You love the Foundation and all the people it serves. You’ve left a lasting impression on the organization and each person you’ve encountered along the way. Best wishes for a joy-filled retirement.
