Give a charitable gift of joy and meaning

Michelle Lippart Hardwick

By Michelle Lippart Hardwick, director of gift planning

As you prepare for the holiday season, consider giving joy and meaning by making a charitable gift. Nonprofit organizations are faced with unprecedented challenges this year – many with an increased need for their services while simultaneously experiencing reduced resources.

If you want to make a lasting impact but don’t know where to start, your Community Foundation is here to help.

You may consider one of these holiday season giving tips:

  • Give locally – Many nonprofits are doing critical work to support our community and shape the quality of life for all who call the Fox Valley region home.
  • Give unrestricted – Giving with no strings attached allows nonprofits to utilize a gift where it’s needed most.
  • Give now, decide later – A donor advised fund is an easy and convenient way to make a gift now and recommend distributions to your favorite nonprofits in the future.
  • Give wisely – Donating appreciated securities or making a Qualified Charitable Distribution from an IRA (if 70 ½ years or older) can be a tax-effective way to give to your favorite nonprofits.

Contact us! The Community Foundation can help you decide the best path for your philanthropic journey and assist you in achieving the greatest impact in the areas that matter the most to you or share opportunities to support the greatest needs of the community.

We wish you a joy-filled season and much good health, happiness, and peace.
