Aligning Human Resources with your mission

Kim O’Brien

If you are a nonprofit leader in the Fox Valley region, how many times today, this week, this month, have you had to have some tough conversations with employees, volunteers or board members? Was it zero?

I’m pretty sure that’s not the case. If so, I would love to hear how you accomplish this! Was it one or more? And in those conversations, are you sure your legal and ethical high standards were met?

This is one of the important topics the Nonprofit Leadership Initiative will explore on Thursday, January 17, when we discuss what it means when human resources aligns with your mission.

We’re going to learn about the legal implications of those tough HR conversations, and the ethical characteristics that are expected of us as nonprofits.

The good news is that when your HR function is aligned with your organization’s mission, vision and values, and strategic direction, the organization attracts, rewards and retains employees who infuse the mission in their daily work.

Our special guests will be Tricia Perkins, senior strategic HR advisor, and Jane Gotzler, attorney, both from Lake Effect HR & Law, LLC.

Registration for this FREE EVENT is from 7:30 – 8:00 a.m., and the program is from 8:00 am to noon at the Bordini Center at Fox Valley Technical College.
