WOW! This year’s extremely busy scholarship season is nearly over. The applications have been reviewed by committees, selections have been made, students have been notified and scholarship presentations have taken place at local high schools.
The hard part for students is over. Now they can look forward to receiving scholarship checks at their schools.
Here at the Foundation, we evaluate hundreds of applications and then mail hundreds of scholarship checks during a six-month period. It’s a big job that’s also rewarding.
Here are some statistics from our amazing spring season:
- 764 applications were emailed, faxed, mailed or dropped off at our office by students from 97 schools.
- 273 students received scholarships from about 140 scholarship funds established by people, businesses and organizations.
- $930,000 in scholarships was awarded this year!
- $500-$100,000 is the range of scholarship amounts.
It’s wonderful to receive thank you notes and updates from students to share with those who made their scholarships possible. The work we do makes us feel good. Not only do we help deserving students, but we also help donors achieve their goals with a scholarship fund that often has their name or a family member’s name on it.
I enjoy working with people who have created scholarships to help students who share their educational interest or who are from their alma mater. Scholarships are a way to memorialize a loved one so their legacy will live on, forever! My goal is to make this process as rewarding and as easy as possible for our donors and as beneficial as possible for the students.
