Harbor House Domestic Abuse Programs celebrate expanded facility

This week we celebrated with our friends at Harbor House Domestic Abuse Programs on their ribbon cutting for their expanded 68-bed facility in Appleton. The shelter had outgrown its space and, in 13 months, Harbor House reached its “Building Hope” Capital Campaign goal of $4 million.

The expansion included a significant increase in the number of rooms and beds to meet the facility’s increasing need for shelter, plus quiet waiting rooms, an advocacy center and a dedicated meeting space for one-on-one appointments, offering clients more privacy.

Check out the short clip of the celebration:

Following Tuesday’s ribbon-cutting celebration, Harbor House held an open house to show off the expansion, which now has 68 beds in 32 rooms — a significant increase from the 55 beds in 13 rooms that were available before the renovation.

Two years ago Harbor House reached its capital campaign goal of $4 million. Congratulations to Harbor House and to all of the donors. We’re especially thankful for the outpouring of generosity from the donor funds within the Community Foundation that contributed to the building capital campaign.

This is what they’ve made possible! Here is a slideshow of the newly expanded facility:
