A legacy that lasts for centuries

At age 99, Cody Splitt of Appleton doesn’t have to wonder what she will be remembered for.

Even after she celebrates her last birthday, the retired attorney and active community volunteer will continue to support favorite community causes for centuries to come through gifts to her charitable funds at the Community Foundation.

Mrs. Cody Splitt

Cody and her late husband Harley have created three ways in which their generosity will make the Fox Valley Region a better place:  The Harley and Cody Splitt Charitable Fund, the Cody and Harley Splitt Fund for FVTC and Harley B. Splitt Scholarship Fund, all within the Community Foundation.

The Splitt’s estate plan ensures that the Foundation will continue their philanthropic dreams. By virtue of that planned gift, Cody became a member of the Himebaugh Legacy Circle. She added her name to the list of donors expressing their trust in the Foundation to continue their charitable giving after their lifetimes.

Her Legacy Circle membership also gives the Foundation the opportunity to thank Cody and other members now for their future gifts. Cody says she’s happy to have her name associated with legacy gifts to the Foundation.

“I’m talking about the Community Foundation all the time, and I’m very pleased with the work the Community Foundation has done for me,” says Splitt. “I leave it in their hands and I have every confidence that they will do the giving as I do.”

Named after Donald and Violet Himebaugh, the Himebaugh Legacy Circle recognizes those who are shaping tomorrow today by planning an after-lifetime gift to the Community Foundation. It doesn’t matter what the amount of the gift is or whether it’s through a will or trust, an insurance policy, retirement account or other estate planning tool.
