Community Foundation welcomes Amy Spreeman

My name is Amy Spreeman, and I am so excited to join the Community Foundation for the Fox Valley Region as the Marketing Technologist. It’s a new position in which I’ll be helping this amazing team communicate digitally. This includes our website, newsletters, online events, social media and much more. I think one of my favorite responsibilities will be writing and posting The Loop articles.

I’ve had a lengthy career in both corporate communications and television news. My jobs have included news anchor and producer, spokeswoman for a major airline and freelance writer. Once the internet came along, I gravitated toward website design, blogging and social media. Throughout it all, my passion has always been to write stories that inspire people to act with kindness and compassion. And now I get the privilege of sharing stories about those who are served by the generosity of our donors.

I grew up in Minnesota, graduated with a journalism degree from UW-River Falls and married my high school sweetheart. Bob and I have two grown children, and we’re about to add a daughter-in-law to our family. Though we’ve been Wisconsinites longer than we’ve been Minnesotans, we’d always been Vikings fans. That is, all the way up until last year when we finally decided that we love those Green Bay Packers too much not to change our jersey colors!

Joining the Community Foundation team marks a new chapter in my life. I started a freelance writing business 25 years ago and worked mostly in the corporate realm. My office was my kitchen table, and I was able to be a stay-at-home mom. Once we became empty nesters, I began feeling the pull toward doing something new to serve my community. I’m thrilled to start this new adventure as part of the Foundation’s dynamic team.

I’ll be supporting Megan Mulholland, the Director of Marketing and Communications, and taking on many of the responsibilities of David Horst, who is transitioning to his new position as Manager of Donor Services and Environmental Grants.

When I’m not here, I’m on our eight-acre homestead hanging out with my husband, our dog Tucker and the nine hens I call my “chicken girls,” who graciously provide us with our morning breakfast.

You can follow me here on The Loop (Please do subscribe!), or on LinkedIn and Twitter.
