More than $36,000 in grants from the Chilton Area Community Foundation’s Community Fund were announced April 28 by its Board of Directors during a community celebration “Together we Rise as One.” The grant money comes from the CACF’s Community Fund, an endowment that’s invested to be a permanent source of giving to the community. 2017 Chilton Area Community Foundation Fund Grant Recipients: 

Brillion Nature Study Area – “Cycling Without Age,” purchase of a Tri-Shaw bicycle, which allows a rider to transport passengers. It will be used for residents of nursing homes and assisted-living facilities in Calumet County. $5,000

Calumet County-Chilton 4H Club – “Stuff the Bus with School Supplies,” an initiative to provide school supplies and backpacks to 100 Chilton students. $1,000

Chilton High School – “Challenge Day,” a day-long challenge for 100 students and 25 adults to help foster compassion and inclusivity. $2,000

Chilton High School – A safer table saw for technical education classes. $2,819

Chilton High School – A vertical mill for the metals and manufacturing lab. $4,000

Chilton Middle School – A SmartBoard display system for use with special education students. $3,500

Chilton Public School District – A school-based mental health program with a therapist on site one day per week, in partnership with Catalpa Health. $5,000

Chilton Fire Department – Replacement of 10 pagers to aid in rapid response. $4,340

LEAVEN – Financial assistance for Chilton residents facing a housing or utility crisis. $4,000

Salvation Army of Wisconsin/Upper Michigan – Repairs to the back porch and stairwell of the group’s Main Street location. It will become the site of a community garden. $5,000
