“The Friendly City” has lived up to its nickname, producing a large group of volunteers to help their neighbors for a Habitat for Humanity Rock the Block campaign.
The all-out volunteer blitz to clean up and fix up the Fassbender Park neighborhood of Kaukauna launched Monday and continues through Saturday. This is the final year of a three-year, $300,000 Community Leadership Initiative grant the Community Foundation awarded to the Greater Fox Cities Area Habitat for Humanity. Previous work has been done in Appleton’s near west side where a Pierce Manufacturing plant once stood, downtown Neenah west and Menasha’s Jefferson Park neighborhood.
More than 500 volunteers are expected to take part in the home repair, weatherization and accessibility work in Kaukauna.
