Can you believe it is back to school time already? For most students this is a very exciting and busy time of year.  For college-bound students this can also mean a bit of apprehension.  New surroundings, new friends, new teachers and classes, and a financial burden that comes along with their goal for an education that will carry them into the future.

This is where the Community Foundation comes in. We are busy processing scholarship awards for some 279 students.  This spring, the Foundation awarded students with scholarships totaling more than $850,000 out of 124 scholarship funds.  These funds were set up by donors who truly wanted to enable students’ education with financial assistance.  My goal is to make this process as rewarding as possible for our donors and as beneficial as possible for the students.

In January, we will start the process all over again.  Please check out our website in January, to see if you or someone you know would be eligible to apply for scholarships that will be awarded in 2015.
