AWARDS

Each year eight award sponsors honor people from the Fox Valley for their volunteer efforts. Award winners receive $5,000 each to benefit a Fox Valley charity of their choice. The Youth Scholarship Award winner receives a $1,500 scholarship and $1,000 to benefit a Fox Valley charity of his/her choice. Submit a nomination. The award categories and criteria are as follows:

Janet Berry Volunteer of the Year Award  

Sponsored by The Post-Crescent
Recognizes an individual or a couple for exemplary volunteerism through a single act, or a number of acts, that have made our community a better
place in which to live.

Youth Scholarship Award
Sponsored by Community First Credit Union
Presented to a high school student who has demonstrated exceptional leadership in promoting volunteerism in the community. The award can be earned for a single act of volunteerism or a number of volunteer efforts. The scholarship will be presented upon graduation from high school to the recipient’s college of choice.

Business Partnership of the Year Award
Sponsored by SECURA Insurance
Presented to a business and a nonprofit for promoting, encouraging and supporting volunteerism and collaboration. The recipient organizations will
be outstanding examples of how a company, a nonprofit and their employees
work together for the benefit of both organizations.

Health Care Volunteer Award
Sponsored by Affinity Health System
and ThedaCare

Recognizes a Fox Cities individual or group committed
to improving the health and well-being of others through volunteerism.

Daniel P. Spalding Volunteer Educator Award
Sponsored by School Specialty, Inc.


Recognizes an individual or group with a
history of dedication to education. The award will be given to a volunteer or group currently working with pre-K-12 students in a public or parochial classroom in a creative and innovative program. The volunteer or group will have an evident passion for education and their impact on students in the classroom can be documented in a measurable way.

Paul & Elaine Groth Mentoring Award
Sponsored by the Mielke Family Foundation, Inc.
Recognizes an individual or group that has served as a mentor in the community over time and has, by example, made meaningful contributions to the quality of life in the Fox Cities.

Hanns Kretzschmar Award for Excellence in the Arts

Sponsored by Thrivent Financial For Lutherans

Recognizes an individual or organization for leadership and service to Fox Cities arts organizations and activities; for long-standing commitment to the Fox Cities arts community; and for noteworthy involvement in developing and promoting arts within the community.

Walter L. Rugland Community Service Award

Sponsored by Thrivent Financial For Lutherans
Recognizes an individual who has positively impacted the quality of life in the Fox Cities through his or her leadership influence, long-standing commitment and enthusiasm, and personal and professional volunteer service to diverse organizations in our community
